Enjoy one of our two holiday cottages in rural Normandy near the D-Day beaches, a nature preserve, and Bayeux, and just a short drive away from Mont Saint-Michel. The cottages are located on the grounds of a former priory in the tiny hamlet of Mestry in the Calvados region.
Our Cottages
The former gatekeeper’s house and bakery of the “Priory of Mestry”, a rare art-nouveau manor, have been lovingly restored into two delightful self-contained cottages: the Maison du Gardien and the Boulangerie. Each cottage comfortably accommodates two, and provides guests ample tranquility and privacy during their stay.
Mestry is at the edge of the Regional Wetlands Nature Preserve of the Cotentin and the Bessin and just 20 minutes from several historic D-Day sites including Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc, and the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial. The town of Bayeux, with its famous tapestry and cathedral, is less than 30 minutes away. Mont Saint-Michel, a must-see for anyone traveling to the region, can be reached in a little over an hour.
Other nearby activities include selecting seafood fresh-off-the-boat at the Grandcamp-Maisy or Port en Bessin morning fish markets, enjoying miles of golden sand beaches along the coast (and wind surfing for the adventurous), exploring the wetlands on horseback, indulging in 18 holes at the Omaha Beach Golf Club, and strolling along the winding country roads around Mestry.
Paris is easily accessible by car or train. The Lison station is just 10 minutes from the cottages where regularly scheduled trains arrive at the Paris Saint-Lazare station in two hours and twenty minutes.
You will find more information on what to see and do around Mestry Cottages here.
